Michael Ogunseye (Adult Nursing)

"As a kid I was frequently in hospital due to a wellness condition. The intendance I received was always of a good standard. The staff knew how to comfort me, particularly when I was nervous about what was happening. This inspired me to be a nurse and to provide care and comfort to the aforementioned standard. I was attracted to the adult branch of nursing as it exposes you to a diversity of people and different illnesses. It also provides a broad range of career pathways, which is helpful as I am undecided on an surface area I want to work in. Regardless of which surface area I end upwards working in, I aspire to be a good nurse – someone that is enlightened of their limitations and boundaries but isn't agape to claiming themselves."

Doran Taylor (Learning Disability Nursing)

"I had always been interested in working with people with disabilities but knew I needed more than than what being a support worker could offer me. Until a talk was given at my higher, I didn't know that learning disability nursing existed! The University has been a bright option for me. I dearest listening to the lecturers tell stories almost life as a nurse. Information technology actually inspires me to keep on my path, as I promise 1 mean solar day to be the nurse telling the stories to others.

"Being a learning disability nurse will give me the opportunity to work with some of our nearly vulnerable and overlooked in gild, which I consider a great privilege. Nursing takes backbone, and confidence and sometimes a thick skin! Nursing is not all most bookish achievements, simply rather your integrity and honesty. I never thought I would be where I am now, 35 years old and halfway through a degree just learning inability nursing has given me my vocalization and I'm loving every minute."

My parents are deafened and from a young historic period I became a young carer for them, too as helping to expect after my younger siblings. I loved being able to do this and it sparked my passion for a caring career.

"The key to being a good nurse is compassion and communication. Beingness empathetic and caring towards your patients, and being compassionate virtually the care you lot are delivering is key. Having the ability to talk to patients and their families, and support them through their hard journey, is the important part of nursing."

Emma Bignell (Mental Wellness Nursing)

"My motivation to go a mental wellness nurse stems from personal experience of mental sick-wellness, and the desire to learn more and help others without sentence. I as well believe my children need me every bit a role model, to help them grow and take a better agreement of mental illness and their own health needs. My qualification volition support me to do this. "I knew I wanted to do something that helped people only wasn't quite certain what. I started with a Sports Therapy degree, but this didn't feel quite correct. And then, I did a year of a paramedic course and during a placement I was involved with a home nativity; that'southward when inspiration hit and everything became articulate. I haven't looked back since."

"The motivation to become a nurse came from personal experience. My dad had cancer then for five years we had nurses visiting our dwelling house to treat his, also as visits to and from the infirmary. I was only young and ignorant to anything almost cancer, other than it's 'a disease that kills'. Footling did I know that the nurses we saw every week would make those years some of the happiest and funniest times of my life. They were friendly and made it memorable.

"In my opinion, a skilful nurse is someone with a smile and warmth when y'all run across them for the first fourth dimension. They make y'all feel at ease. A practiced nurse doesn't just notice someone'southward illness, but looks at a person holistically, and includes them as equally important as treating the illness. A good nurse coordinates with others and works as an advocate for their patient. You lot must have courage to speak up. Yous will know your patient the best every bit you will have spent the most time interacting with them!"

You lot need to have compassion, backbone and empathy to give everyone the best quality of care. When I began this degree, I was worried I didn't have what it takes to get a nurse as I was very shy and hated new surroundings. This class has helped me aggrandize on all my qualities to get the best nurse I tin exist."
